.It may not be—as the title suggests—What Every American Should Know About Who’s Really Running the World, but this new book by Melissa Rossi is a quite interesting and actually rather entertaining and fun to read assembly of facts, figures and often little-known details in a well-organized volume fully 432 pages in length. The book is subtitled “The People, Corporations, and Organizations That Control Our Future.”
The book does, all in all, a pretty good job in opening up, for free discussion, the simple fact that there are a lot of special interests, often working together—and sometimes even at cross purposes—to dominate the American system, often in many ways that are entirely contrary to the nation’s interests as a whole.
The book echoes the independent thinking of American Free Press, in many respects, and touches on many of the topics that folks hear addressed by such hard-hitting radio voices as John Stadtmiller and Rick Adams, who are featured on Republic Broadcasting Network. (See page 23 for schedule.)
The first five chapters are, naturally, an extended assault on the Bush gang, their political cronies, the behind-the-scenes financial interests, and the religious fanatics (Jewish and Christian alike) who have banded together to grab power and wealth and drag America into needless imperial foreign ventures that are inimical to America, both at home, and in America’s dealings abroad. You’ll get a good overview of just how really rotten the Bush family is. And you’ll see, pretty clearly, that the thieves and trouble-makers who surround them and support them are not very nice either. And that’s an understatement.
Believe it or not, but on the very first page of the first chapter, Ms. Rossi defies political correctness—and somehow managed to get it past any thought police in residence at her publishers—by pointing out that “quite a few” of the infamous neo-conservatives who rule the roost in the Bush administration are Jewish. A minor point, perhaps, but not a point most folks would be brave enough to mention so prominently on the first page of the first full chapter of their book. There’s a whole section on “Shadowy Stuff”—another way of saying lots of data on secret (and not so secret, but pretty scary nonetheless) surveillance technology, information on the CIA and, yes, even Israel’s Mossad.
This section of the book even includes discussion of the big story about the Israeli “art students” who, as AFP was among the first to point out, were engaged in a massive spying operation on American soil linked to the 9-11 terrorist tragedy, but whom the author, Ms. Rossi does not link to 9-11, by the way. The fact that she even mentions it is a credit to Ms. Rossi.
There’s a chapter on Wal-Mart, the global corporate monster, and a full-force attack on the big credit card companies, the highly paid “public relations” companies that are really shills for foreign governments and big corporations. There’s some good data on Rupert Murdoch, the media tycoon, and on Sun Myung Moon, the cult leader who seems to have some unusual influence on the Republican Party. You’ll also find a lively chapter on think tanks and yes, even one on the Council on Foreign Relations. The Bilderberg group and the Trilateral Commission even merit a passing mention. Kudos to Ms. Rossi.
The author delves into the international arms industry (Dick Cheney’s Halliburton), the big pharmaceutical companies, and their crooked allies in government agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration, and, inevitably, the oil industry.
This is a well-researched and wide-ranging book, full of lots of useful facts and anecdotes—a nice primer to keep on your reference shelf and a handy introduction to off-beat information that you might want to pass on to a friend or family member who is skeptical about some of those “crazy” things they hear you talking about.
Of course, there will always be critics who say that the author “hasn’t gone far enough” or fails to mention one topic or another, but the author has done a pretty good job in doing what she has done. So check it out: What Every American Should Know About Who’s Really Running the World.
