Will Middle Class Actually Benefit?
THE WAY I SEE IT
By Michael Collins

. Forget, if you can, the widespread belief
that Barack Obama is a half-black, Kenyan-
born Marxist Muslim socialist (secretly
sponsored by the Soviet KGB) who
has been accused of adultery, sodomy, smoking
crack and marijuana, stealing elections, forgery
and a variety of other misdeeds. All told, based on
that summary of Obama — as put forth by some respected
writers associated with AMERICAN FREE
PRESS — the guy sitting in the White House (apparently
un-constitutionally, if his critics are correct)
sounds, in many respects, like many modern-day
American politicians (minus the Islamic twist).
That stated for the record — and be assured that
had the above not been mentioned that AFP would
have received a lot of angry letters asking why it
wasn’t — let’s take a look at the rhetoric found in
Obama’s recent State of the Union address.
And, by the way, if you didn’t hear Obama in the
original English, you can probably find at least the
Spanish-language response put forth by the GOP’s
current golden boy, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) — a
sure signal, if anything, that the “old America” we
all miss is being cast to the wayside by the “new”
Republican Party.
Those who still continue to think (or pray) the
GOP is going to come to the rescue and break up
the trend toward multiracialism and multiculturalism —
and that has been used as an excuse for
many to continue to support the Republican Party
as opposed to third-party alternatives — had better face reality.
So — all of that having been said — whether you
like Obama or not (and most people who read
AMERICAN FREE PRESS do not, and usually for very
sound and solid reasons), the truth is that the underlying
foundation of his State of the Union address
(at least his rhetorical tone, anyway) incorporated
a theme on economic issues — repeat: economic issues — that most traditional American populists
would find hard to challenge.
Now don’t get us wrong: It was bad for Obama
to trumpet gun control. AFP has always opposed
gun control and always will. Count on that. But
we’re not talking here about gun control — and yes,
it is an important issue.
Instead, right now, we’re talking about the overall message
that Obama put forth: The idea that the
middle class (and, unfortunately, it seems to be
shrinking) needs a break.
As hard as it is for many to think, sometimes
Obama says the right things (even if he doesn’t
mean them). So let’s give him a thumbs up for at
least pretending to think “right” about some issues,
since that might actually convince some of his followers
to think like American patriots do — if only
by accident.
