Drive to Impeach the President & Vice President
People Across the Political Spectrum Start to See What a Threat Bush Poses to America, World
Don’t believe claims that only ‘leftists’
want president impeached
By Michael Collins Piper
In
case you ever had any doubts about the intrinsic dishonesty of the
self-styled “responsible conservatives” in America,
consider this: one of the so-called “leadership” groups
in the “conservative movement” — which is today
little more than an adjunct of the Republican Party — is raising
money by saying that “leftist activists” are organizing
to “fund a campaign to impeach George W. Bush.”
There’s a grain of truth in what they’re saying, but
there’s much more to the story that they don’t want
you to know about.
A slick fund-raising letter from the Young America’s Foundation,
signed by its longtime president, Ron Robinson, is trying to scare
Americans into giving money to the foundation to help fend off the
growing demand by a wide-ranging array of Americans that the president
of the United States be removed from office by the constitutionally
provided measure of impeachment.
GROWING MOVEMENT: Marshall
Wheelock reads an amendment to a resolution calling
for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, March
25, 2006, at a town meeting in the Brattleboro Union
High School in Brattleboro, Vermont. The amendment
passed and the town joins five other towns that are
calling for an investigation of the U.S. president
and impeachment if necessary. |

The foundation—which is a spin-off of the
Young Americans for Freedom, a “youth” group which was
founded on the Connecticut estate of “former” CIA official
and longtime Council on Foreign Relations and Bilderberg stalwart
William F. Buckley Jr.—is raising the old-fashioned “red
flag” and screaming that the foundation will help save the
Bush administration (and America) from “the leftists.”
Robinson says: “these radicals must be stopped
before they cause serious damage to our nation and our president.”
The rhetoric sounds good, and presses all the “right”
buttons, so to speak, but the letter is based on a lie. It’s
not just “the leftists” who want Bush out of office.
Lots of Americans who are anything but leftists have joined the
crusade to bring to account the internationalists who — using
the Bush administration as their tool — dragged America into
the debacle in Iraq and who are now aiming for a senseless war against
Iran to protect not America, but Israel.
It would probably be belaboring the point to mention that former
high-ranking Pentagon official Col. Donn de Grand Pre, a good friend
of American Free Press (AFP), has lent his prestige to the Committee
to Impeach Bush and Cheney (CIBC).
CIBC is now in the process of preparing an exclusive special “Impeach
Bush and Cheney” report that provides real patriots all the
information they need to help stimulate even greater demand for
the impeachment, conviction and removal of the duo.
In addition, calls for the impeachment of Bush have become almost
standard fare from callers phoning in to the Republic Broadcasting
Network (see rbnlive.com),
which is the fastest-growing patriotic “alternative”
radio network on the face of the planet. These patriots are anything
but “leftists.”
It’s also worth pointing out that the America First Party
(see their web site at americafirstparty.org)
approved a resolution calling for the impeachment of the president.
The America First Party is hardly a “leftist” organization
in any sense of the word. The party’s resolution reads as
follows:
Whereas, The America First
National Committee has adjudged the war against Iraq to be an
unnecessary, improper, illegal, unconstitutional and immoral misuse
of the power and might of the United States Armed Forces and the
brave men and women who have volunteered to serve as protectors
and defenders of the United States of America and her people;
and,
Whereas, The America First National Committee has adjudged the
war against Iraq sets a dangerous precedent for our nation that
must be resisted and never allowed to happen again; and,
Whereas, It is only through assuring that the brave fighting men
and women of the United States Armed Forces are not misused that
we can best support their mission to protect and defend the United
States of America. . . .
We call upon the Joint Chiefs of Staff to refuse orders they know
to be immoral and illegal as required by the Uniform Code of Military
Justice; and,
We demand that Congress refuse to fund preemptive wars of colonial
conquest; and,
We demand that our government refocus its national security efforts
on securing our ports and our borders to prevent future terrorist
attacks; and,
We demand that Congress immediately impeach the president and
remove him from office for waging war without constitutional authority;
and,
We pledge to work for the replacement of every member of Congress
who aids, abets, or shields the President in these impeachable
offenses.
If Young America’s Foundation happens to drop a letter in
your mailbox saying that “the leftists” are demanding
the impeachment of the president, you might want to drop them a
line and tell them otherwise. Or put the letter from the foundation
in the circular file where it belongs.
